This poster with its modest illustration of ordinary Swedes protesting under the lines of a target sight promotes the antimilitarist agenda of the Swedish Vänsterpartiet (Left Party). In 1990, the party changed the name it had held since 1967— Vänsterpartiet Kommunisterna—and ceased to be a Communist party. In 1994, it received 6.2 percent of the vote in the parliamentary elections and began to expand its influence. In 1998, it won 12 percent of the national vote.
