In another design for local concert and event space Veka in Glarus, Switzerland, home to his studio babyinktwice, Dafi Kühne creates a poster protesting the local Tanzverbot, a prohibition on dancing and other public entertainments, superimposing what looks like a scrappy hand-drawn political message on top of the club’s seasonal listing. In 2018, some residents of the canton were working to end a ban on dance, sports, and other public entertainments on public holidays that had existed since before the Reformation; the law still prevailed in nine of the country’s German-speaking cantons. It was relaxed in Glarus in 2019 when such events became permitted on public holidays—but only if held indoors. Like most of the graphic work emanating from the studio, the poster was printed from hand-cut linoleum and letterpress (and in this case, issued in four print runs).
